Common questions about Sphynx vaccinations
When should my Sphynx start vaccinations?
Most Sphynx kittens start their first FVRCP between 6 and 8 weeks in the US, or 8 to 9 weeks in the UK and EU. Use the form above with your kitten's age and country to see the next-due date.
My Sphynx has no fur. Does that affect vaccinations?
The vaccine schedule is the same. The injection site is more visible without fur, so watch for redness or swelling for a day or two after a shot. Sphynx skin needs more general care (regular bathing for oils), but vaccines do not change that.
Should my Sphynx get HCM screening?
Yes. Sphynx cats have elevated HCM risk. An echocardiogram before any future anesthesia (spay, neuter, dental) is sensible. Vaccine timing is unchanged.
Does my Sphynx need outdoor non-core vaccines?
Sphynx cats are strictly indoor (they do not regulate temperature well outside). FeLV is recommended through the first-year booster for any kitten; after year one, indoor-only Sphynx can usually drop it.
Same schedule for a Sphynx mix?
Yes for the core vaccines. FVRCP and Rabies are identical for purebreds and mixes. Non-core vaccines (FeLV, FIV) depend on lifestyle and region, not breed. The schedule above works for any Sphynx mix.
