Beagles need 60+ minutes of scent-led exercise daily. Here's the guide with the recall reality.
Beagles are scent hounds — bred for hours of nose-to-ground tracking. Pet Beagles need substantial daily exercise that engages the nose. Without it, weight gain and behavioral issues follow.

What makes Beagle exercise different
Nose-led activity satisfies more than speed. A 45-min sniff walk fatigues a Beagle better than a 30-min jog.
Recall is unreliable when scent kicks in. Most Beagles will follow scent over recall regardless of training quality. Long-line or fenced area for off-leash time.
Long back risk (mild). Beagles aren’t as IVDD-prone as Dachshunds but back protection still relevant — minimize jumping on/off high furniture.
Counter-surf-driven. Combined with food drive (see Beagle Feeding), under-exercised Beagles raid trash and counters.
