When should my Australian Shepherd start vaccinations?
Most Australian Shepherd puppies start their first DHPP between 6 and 8 weeks in the US, or 6 to 9 weeks in the UK and EU. Use the form above with your puppy's age and country to see the next-due date.
When can my Aussie start herding or agility training?
Foundation training starts after the final puppy vaccination (given at 16 weeks or later), when your vet says protection is in place. Hold off on tight turns, jumps, and stair work until your vet confirms growth is finished, at about 15 months.
MDR1 gene mutation: does it affect vaccinations?
MDR1 affects how Aussies process certain medications, not vaccines. If you have a genetic test result, share it with your vet so they can adjust drug choices for any future surgery.
Does my Aussie need Lyme or leptospirosis?
Lyme is worth asking your vet about if you hike or live in tick-heavy areas. Leptospirosis is not a lifestyle choice any more: in the US it is core for all dogs, with a booster every year (AAHA). In the UK it is part of the usual puppy course, and elsewhere it is core where the disease is present (WSAVA).
