Common questions about Devon Rex vaccinations

When should my Devon Rex start vaccinations?

Most Devon Rex kittens start their first FVRCP between 6 and 8 weeks in the US, or 8 to 9 weeks in the UK and EU. Use the form above with your kitten's age and country to see the next-due date.

My Devon Rex has very fine fur. Does that affect vaccinations?

The injection site is more visible with such fine fur. Watch for redness or swelling for a day or two after a shot. Vaccine schedule and core/non-core decisions are the same as any cat.

Does my Devon Rex need FeLV?

AAFP recommends FeLV through the first-year booster for every kitten. Devon Rex are typically indoor cats due to skin sensitivity; after year one, indoor-only Devons can usually drop FeLV.

Are Devon Rex more sensitive to anesthesia?

Not specifically beyond the general cat profile. Their skin sensitivity does not extend to vaccine response. Standard schedule applies.

Same schedule for a Devon Rex mix?

Yes for the core vaccines. FVRCP and Rabies are identical for purebreds and mixes. Non-core vaccines (FeLV, FIV) depend on lifestyle and region, not breed. The schedule above works for any Devon Rex mix.
